What was once a 20,000 sq. ft. ice cream cone factory in 1900 in the Historic Huffman District off of Fifth and Keowee had become a derelict, graffitied eyesore over the years until one creative couple saw its potential to be something great again. Remodeled and repurposed as a wedding and event venue, The Lift, as it's now called, is nearing completion and private tours are now open through its website, TheLiftDayton.com.

Dayton native and Wright State alumna, Erica Blaire Roby, has been named “Master of ‘Cue” after winning Food Network’s televised barbeque competition, “BBQ Crawl.” Hosted by famous chefs Bobby Flay, Micheal Simon, and Eddie Jackson, this show is a four-part competition where the erlit “pitmasters” from all over the country face off in the ultimate showdown to determine who is the best barbecuer of them all. Remember the 5 D’s: Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. After taking a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Springfield Salvation Army is hosting the Nocturnal Fury Charity Dodgeball Tournament.
