DAYTON BAR TO HOST FIRST MAC AND CHEESE FESTIVAL

The Yellow Cab Tavern will be hosting the inaugural Dayton Mac and Cheese Fest. The event will be held on September 3rd from 4 pm to 8 pm. The event will have dozens of food trucks present to serve a wide variety of different types of macaroni and cheese. Entry is free. More here.
NEWEST BRANCH OF DAYTON METRO LIBRARY TO HOLD GRAND OPENING

This past Wednesday, the Burkhardt branch of the Dayton Metro Library held a community open house event. This branch of the library will feature a conference room, six study rooms, and a community room. This new branch comes from a bond issue passed by Montgomery County voters in 2012. This issue allocated $187 million for Dayton libraries to renovate their properties. Full story here.
METROPARKS TO HOST THE FIRST 'BAT BLITZ' SURVEY IN OHIO

Five Rivers MetroParks will host an ecological survey of bat species in several different MetroParks. This survey will be the first of its kind in the entire state of Ohio. The survey will be held on August 19th and August 20th. Bats will be collected for the purpose of scientific research. Check out the full story here.
DAYTON FLYERS BASKETBALL TEAM ENTER TOP 20 FOR ATTENDANCE NUMBERS

The University of Dayton men’s basketball team has just recorded its first sold-out season in the history of the program. With this milestone, the team has entered the national top 20 rankings in attendance numbers. The team currently ranks 19th among all Division I schools, with an average of 13,407 fans in 17 home games. Learn more here.
LEVITT PAVILION IN DOWNTOWN DAYTON TO HOST FUNK MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Levitt Pavilion in the downtown Dayton area will host the Dayton Funk Festival on Sunday, August 14th. The event will be coordinated by the Dayton Department of Recreation. Local acts such as LYD, the Larry Humphrey Band, and Big Gil & the Funky All-Stars will be some of the artists performing. This year’s Dayton Funk Festival will be the third iteration of the event. AIR FORCE MUSEUM TO HOLD B-52 FLYOVER AS TRIBUTE TO VETERANS

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will be holding a traveling tribute to Vietnam War veterans. This tribute will include a B-52 flyover, as well as an 80%-sized replica of the Vietnam Wall. The flyover is scheduled to take place on August 19th. Throughout the month of August, the museum will also be home to historical displays and veteran presentations. Check out the full story here.
