LOCALS MOURN LOSS OF 'AMERICAN FACTORY' FILMMAKER
LOCALLY GROWN
Local filmmaker Julia Reichert passed away last week after battling bladder cancer. Reichert won an Oscar and Emmy for American Factory, a film about the opening of the Fuyao glass America plant at the site of the former GM plant in Moraine. “She was a proud member of the Dayton community and made numerous films here in Dayton.” Her celebration of life is scheduled for this Friday, December 9th, at 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on 314 Xenia Avenue in Yellow Springs. NEW VENUE IN BEAVERCREEK TO FEATURE MINI-GOLF, BOWLING, SELF-POUR TAPS & MORE

A “one-of-a-kind entertainment center” is coming to Beavercreek across from The Greene Town Center called On Par. Co-owner Daniel Huiet says that “after traveling to 82 countries and seeing a lot of unique businesses,” he wanted to combine many of the elements into one venue. Huiet is also the co-owner of Wild Axe Throwing and Great Escape Game in Beavercreek. On Par will be a family-friendly establishment during the day, but will be strictly 21 and up after 7:30 p.m. The anticipated opening date of the entertainment center is Aug. 1, 2023. More here.
NEW SMALL BIZ PET SUPPLY STORE OPENS DOWNTOWN

Norman’s Pet Supply Co., a new pet supply store with pet food delivery, a self-serve dog bathing station, and more has opened its doors in downtown Dayton this past weekend. Located at 225 N. Main Street next to Flying Pizza in a space that formerly housed Strings Attached (a knitting supply store), the owners’ goal is “to make things a lot more accessible to people who live downtown.” Norman’s Pet Supply Co. will have their own food line, manufactured in Ohio, offering different varieties for dogs and cats as well as carrying treats from small-batch companies. NEW DAYTON DESIGN FIRM DEBUTS SMALLER, SAFER HOMES FOR SEVERE WEATHER

i3Home Designs, a Dayton-area company “focused on homes designed with severe weather in mind,” has completed its model home at 4496 Talcott Trail in Trotwood's Sycamore Woods neighborhood. The decision to build in Sycamore Woods was intentional and aimed at replacing some of the homes lost in that area due to the 2019 tornadoes. i3Home’s single-story builds “don't have any load-bearing walls; steel and concrete are incorporated into the construction of all the homes.” Most of i3Home Designs' homes, including the 1,200-square-foot home in Trotwood, will have three bedrooms, two full baths and be priced in the low $200,000's. LOCAL MARKETING FIRM EXPANDS, ACQUIRES AGENCY IN NORTH CAROLINA

Hard Media Group, “a rapidly expanding, Dayton-based marketing services firm is continuing its upward momentum” with the acquisition of North Carolina-based video services agency, Nubs Media, “known for video service capabilities in the service industry space.” In 2022, Hard Media Group garnered national attention, aligning itself with the presentation of a software giant Ingage and lead generation company Sinapi to develop a series of webinars delving into traditionally dishonest angles found among marketing companies. The acquisition will bring Hard Media to 8 total employees within its marketing services firm, and 19 companywide. Original story here.
