From Friday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 16, the iconic Young’s Jersey Dairy is celebrating its 154th birthday with special deals all over the farm. According to its website, guests can get $1.54 off all cones, burgers, deep fried breaded cheddar cheese curds, cheddar cheese crispys, four packs of homemade buckeyes, half gallons of ice cream and kid’s meals. A souvenir Young’s 154th anniversary bottle will be given to those who purchase a burger, kid’s meal, cheese curds or cone, while supplies last, among other deals. Learn more here.
LOCAL ZOO WELCOMES FIRST BABY OF 2023

The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden welcomed its first baby of the new year Thursday after Isla, a tamandua. The tamandua, also known as the lesser anteater, use their long snout to find ant, termite and bee colonies. They have long claws that allow them to dig into nests and a long sticky tongue catches the insects. A tamandua can eat up to 9,000 ants a day, according to the zoo. The Cincinnati Zoo will continue to share updates about Isla and her pup, including when zoo guests will be able to see them. Full story here.

Fuji Grill Hibachi & Sushi Buffet, a new Asian buffet, is now open at 8870 Kingsridge Drive in Miami Twp. in the 10,000-square-foot space that previously housed Golden Corral. Manager Oscar Chen said, “We offer a traditional Asian buffet dining experience plus some extras with an extensive sushi bar and a hibachi grill. Dayton Metro Library, in partnership with Dayton Live, is offering 100 free tickets to “National Geographic Live: On The Trail of Big Cats with Steve Winter” Sunday, Jan 22 at 3 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Victoria Theatre. LOCAL MANUFACTURER EXPANDS WITH $14M INVESTMENT

A family-owned manufacturer will expand its Technology Development Center to support critical industry sector growth. The expansion entails a $14 million investment and is supported by JobsOhio as well as the city of Eaton. According to J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO, “This expansion aligns with the state’s longtime goal to boost research in advanced materials for the aerospace industry, continues to position us as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing, and will result in high-wage, skilled jobs for the residents of Preble County.” Check out the full story here.
$463K IN GRANTS AWARDED TO LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND ARTISTS

Thanks to $436,000 in grants from Culture Works, an art funding and advocacy organization, nearly 50 local artists and cultural organizations will get an infusion of cash. The funding came from a one-time National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) American Rescue Plan (ARP) grant which was then awarded through the Dayton Region Arts Renewal Grant program. The goal of the grant program is to help the arts recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. For the organizations, the money can offset staff salaries and other expenses.
