miami university student creates environmental awareness through litter sculpture​

Art student, Brian Vogt, has transformed litter collected on Miami University’s Oxford campus into a sculpture that highlights the problem of campus waste. The sculpture features items like soda bottles, chip bags, and coffee cups arranged into a bird-like figure. The sculpture will be on display at the Hiestand Gallery until April 2nd. More here.

Three Centerville neighbors are opening a new ice cream window in Washington Township called Goldies Flavored Soft Serve in early April. The new location will offer 48 flavors of soft serve, as well as vegan and dairy-free options. The window will be open from 12 pm to 9 pm, seven days a week at 9352 Dayton-Lebanon Pike. Dayton Children's Hospital has unveiled a new $78 million Specialty Care Center, which will provide patients with a range of pediatric care services, including neurology and diabetes. The new facility includes a water therapy tank and a bio-simulation lab. Original story here.


dayton's ncaa men's basketball fan fest grows from pre-covid numbers

The Dayton Convention Center will host the First Four Hoopla, a fan fest that will coincide with the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The event will feature live music, food trucks, and interactive games. The First Four Hoopla will be held on March 14th and 15th. Attendance in 2022 attendance was 13% above average than pre-Covid attendance levels. That resulted in an additional $700,000 in economic impact. Full story here.

dip tacos food truck expands to new location in springfield

Springfield-based food truck, Dip Tacos Truck, is planning to open a new brick-and-mortar location in Springfield. The new location will offer a range of Latin American cuisine, including birria tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, loaded fries, and offers fresh lemonade. The exchange will begin April 1 and the restaurant is expected to be open for business by June, according to the business’ Facebook page. More here.

The Dayton Business Journal has launched the Inno Madness Bracket, a bracket-style competition that will feature some of the region’s most innovative startups. The competition will feature 16 startups, and readers will be able to vote on the winners in each round. The winner of the competition will be announced on April 2nd.
