NEW WEST CARROLLTON RIVER DISTRICT AWAITS VOTE

All in favor? West Carrollton City Council will vote on legislation at the city council meeting Tuesday, May 24, for a new River District along the Great Miami River in West Carrollton. The plan includes land for mixed use including residential, commercial, and recreational. The developers hope to create more events and destinations to bring visitors to the city which reportedly sees 115,000 cars pass by Exit 47 on I-75. More here.

Hope springs eternal. Dion Green, a survivor of the 2019 Oregon District shooting in Dayton, visited Buffalo, New York offering support to families and friends of the victims of the recent shooting there. Green is the founder of an organization that specializes in helping those directly impacted by mass shootings and other forms of violence. He is also the author of a memoir, Untitled Act of God/Act of Man. Full story here.

Courtney Barrett grew up in West Dayton and “from the very start was an entrepreneur who had a love for science.” She recently launched Just Cakin’ It, a mobile dessert lab to teach educational classes to children and provide entertainment opportunities throughout the community. Meet me outside. Passport to MetroParks kicks off in Dayton on Friday, June 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at RiverScape MetroPark with information on all of the area's parks have to offer this summer. The event will feature live music, food trucks and family-friendly games and activities. Participants can earn a stamp in their “event passport” for each activity they complete and earn prizes.
