DICK’S SPORTING GOODS OPENS ‘WAREHOUSE’ LOCATION ACROSS FROM DAYTON MALL

Located at 2661 Miamisburg Centerville Road in Miami Twp. (in the storefront that used to house Babies R Us), Dick’s Warehouse will offer an assortment of apparel and footwear at discounted prices of “up to 70% off thousands of styles” with “new styles arriving in-store weekly,” according to their website. There are currently 40 Dick’s Warehouses nationwide. The Dayton location could open as early as this week. Full story here.
DAYTON-AREA SCHOOL AMONG ONE OF 13 OHIO SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE THE 2022 NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON DISTINCTION

The U.S. Department of Education has named 13 Ohio schools as 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools. Schools are recognized based on overall academic performances or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Oakwood Junior High School, of the Oakwood City School District, was one of 13 Ohio schools to receive the distinction. A National Blue Ribbon School flag to be placed in the school's entryway or on a flagpole as a symbol of teaching and learning excellence. Learn more here.
WHITE CASTLE EXPANSION PROJECT NEAR FINISHED RESULTING IN NEW JOBS

Columbus-based White Castle has added a 75,000-square-foot fast food distribution and production plant expected to be completed by mid- to late September in Vandalia. The $27 million expansion was funded in part by a $2.5 million growth fund loan from JobsOhio. Financing was approved by the Dayton/Montgomery County Port Authority in 2020. The area’s original plant opened in 2013 and produces more than 200,000 sliders a day. The addition of the new hires brings staffing to more than 220 workers.The expansion is creating 75 new jobs and 60 of those workers have been hired and are currently in training. The building will be operational in 2-3 weeks. More here.
PUMPKIN PATCH EXPRESS RETURNS TO WARREN COUNTY

The Pumpkin Patch Express (LM&M Historic Train) is preparing to kick off its October run in Warren County with the first ride taking place on Oct. 1. The train ride is “a two-hour journey with a stop at a pumpkin patch where all passengers get a small pumpkin. There will also be some fall activities. During the rest of the ride scarecrow hosts will be making balloon pumpkins.” Ticket prices range from $22 to $32. Children under two are $5. Original story here.
DAYTON COMPANY ACQUIRED BY NATIONAL DRUG DEVELOPMENT FIRM

Soin Therapeutics, A Dayton company focused on developing non-addictive pain management, has been acquired by JanOne Inc., a Las Vegas-based publicly traded company focused on the development of non-addictive drugs with pain-relieving properties. “The $30 million deal includes its product, a patent-pending formulation of low-dose naltrexone. The product has been designed to treat Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic pain generally affecting arms or legs.” Learn more here.
