1913 Studios will break ground in the first quarter of 2022 building a 210,000 square foot facility providing three large production spaces, more than 60 offices and pre/post production support spaces that will “support the next generation of cutting edge filming and media production.” Learn more here.

A $1.8 million Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit will go toward the Longfellow School project — a proposed $35 million redevelopment of 245 Salem Ave. in Dayton's Grafton Hill neighborhood. This 200 year old school will “be repurposed into a 150-unit community for residents aged 55 and older, and will be intentionally programmed as welcoming for the LGBTQ+ community and allies.” More here.

Local chicken joint, Chicken Head’s is relocating to 865 North Main St. where Chicken Louie’s used to be. In the same building will be three other local businesses: Simply Savory by Rachel, a seasoning spice vendor, Nimbus Coffee Cafe, coffee roasters, and The Cookieologist. A Dayton-native will be featured in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming adaptation of West Side Story, which showcases more diverse casting than the original. Curtiss Cook, a 1987 Belmont High graduate, will play the role of Abe. But this isn’t his first rodeo. Cook has been featured in major films and TV shows such as Luke Cage, House of Cards, and others. Color us starstruck! Read more here.

Tekion, a California-based developer of a cloud-platform for the automotive industry is opening a 15,000 square foot support center just south of Dayton in West Chester. The firm plans to hire over 100 employees at this location and expects to hire more with their office expansion in 2023. Tekion received a Job Creation Tax Credit from the State of Ohio which played a role in landing here versus Texas or Tennessee, where it was also eyeing. Full story here.
