What was once a 20,000 sq. ft. ice cream cone factory in 1900 in the Historic Huffman District off of Fifth and Keowee had become a derelict, graffitied eyesore over the years until one creative couple saw its potential to be something great again. Remodeled and repurposed as a wedding and event venue, The Lift, as it's now called, is nearing completion and private tours are now open through its website, TheLiftDayton.com.

Local famous person alert! Dr. Joya Griffin, a Dayton native and veterinary dermatologist, stars in a new Nat Geo WILD series called “Pop Goes the Vet with Dr. Joya.” The series showcases the dermatological side of animal care at the Animal Dermatology Clinic in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky as well as Evansville, Indiana. OH-IOU? Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill at the end of last year legalizing sports betting throughout the state. “Bettors will be able to place wagers on professional, college and esports by Jan. 1, 2023 and the Ohio Legislative Service Commission estimates that sports gambling will produce more than $3.35 billion in revenue per year by the end of the decade."
