Proud city moment. Nearly 200 members of the Centerville High School jazz band will be marching in the nationally televised Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade this year. The band applied in 2018 and were selected in 2019 but were pushed to 2021 due to the pandemic. They are one of only nine bands in the country to be selected. See the full story here.​

A $70 million dollar whitewater park and community gathering space called the “West Carrollton Riverfront Development” is being proposed along the I-75 West Carrollton interchange. The development could create 500 jobs and $10 million in job salaries in addition to attracting out-of-town and out-of-state visitors to the area for it’s recreational water activities and competitions. A local youth sports nonprofit, is raising funds to construct a $9.5 million facility in Fairborn that could host regional and national sports tournaments. The 43,000 square-foot venue would include full-sized basketball courts, classrooms, fitness gym, batting cages, soccer fields and baseball fields, and even a barber shop. If executed, the programming could “save children’s lives,” said Greene County Commissioners. It could also create a number of full time and temporary job positions in the area. Renika Williams, a Dayton native and Wright State University grad, is part of the cast of the new HBO Max comedy, "The Sex Lives of College Girls." The coming-of-age series is written by Emmy-nominated Mindy Kaling and Williams plays the feature role of Willow who is "proud, queer and the life of the party," according to Williams. Prior to this, Williams appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions and thanks Wright State for her training. More here.

The co-founders of the much-loved FUSIAN sushi restaurants are opening a chicken finger restaurant. Hunny Bee’s Crispy Fried Chicken will offer, you guessed it, crispy fried chicken as well as “hot fries,” buttery toast, and handmade milkshakes. Taking over the space where Lee’s used to be at 1200 Brown Street, Hunny Bee’s will provide both sit-down and drive-thru service in early December. Learn more here.

Amazon will be opening its first physical store in Ohio only an hour away at the Kenwood Towne Centre in Cincinnati. The Amazon 4-Star Store will carry "a selection of items rated 4-stars or higher by its customers." Test driving devices, shopping curated and trending finds, and using Prime memberships for purchases are what Amazon says are highlights of their 4-Star shops. Check out the original story here.​
