The Victoria Theatre will host the family-friendly production, “The Hip-Hop Nutcracker” on Friday, Dec. 3. Featuring Kurtis Blow, the first rapper to ever be signed to a major label, as MC, the show follows the same storyline as “The Nutcracker” but with digital graffiti visuals, music, and choreography that take you to contemporary New York City. The Whiskey Rebellion, that is. And no, seriously - prepare. Warped Wing Brewery’s famous Whiskey Rebellion Special Reserve is on sale Saturday, Dec. 4 at their downtown location. Long lines, and sold out bottles are, as usual, to be expected if you want to get your hands on this seasonal Russian Imperial Stout “steeped in reclaimed bourbon barrels, marked with accents of chocolate and vanilla.” Read on here.

The developers who brought about the Dayton Arcade complex are looking to expand the project’s “second phase” with a $90 million investment. The expansion will consist of increasing the footprint of The Hub, adding a shared-use commercial kitchen, Arts Underground space, and a restaurant. Eventually a hotel, retail, and office spaces will follow. Read more here.

Dayton-based, woman-owned company, Tempagenix, has seen national sales of their Temp-N-Toss thermometer rise into the millions for 2020 thanks in part to the pandemic. The company’s biodegradable product is produced in facilities that employ local adults with disabilities and uses six different local, woman-owned companies for printing, marketing and broker work. After its successful launch last year, the interactive Downtown Jingle Lights show has returned this year and runs until January 1, 2022. Tune your radio to 97.1 FM and cruise along the following routes to see the choreographed displays: Main Street between Monument and Fifth, Third Street between St. Clair and Wilkinson, and Monument Ave. from Patterson to Main.
