eNTREPRENEURS TEAM UP TO BOOST local FOOD & BEVERAGE scene

Team work makes the dream work. Local entrepreneurs, Jamaica White, Deborah Rice, and Charlynda Scales, are working together to create a for-rent kitchen space in the Dayton Arcade. This space will allow culinary entrepreneurs to develop their business skills, increase their access to culinary resources, and build their clientele. The kitchen space will be called “Six Triple Eight,” named after the 6888th Postal Directory Battalion, a World War II battalion made up of Black women. Learn more by reading the full story here.
MARDI GRAS meets gem city

Let the good times roll. On Saturday, The Gem City Mardi Gras Threauxdown brought the NOLA spirit to Dayton. Held at the Brightside Music and Event Venue, the event featured New Orleans inspired live music and a spread of Cajun foods and desserts. Khrys Blank, one of the organizers and musicians of the event said that the purpose of the event was to “show that New Orleans and Dayton share the same mindset in being wrapped around community, tradition, support, and uplifting with celebration.” Grab some king cake and check out the full story here.
centerville high grad launches maternity clothing biz
business
Bun in the oven. Gabrielle Salgado, a 2017 graduate of Centerville Highschool, is the founder of “Bump in Bloom,” a business that allows women to rent maternity clothes. “You are only pregnant for nine months,” said Salgado in an interview with the Dayton Daily News. “Why spend a fortune on clothes that you wear for a short amount of time?” The rental service offers a variety of clothing brands and styles. goodwill to expand in trotwood with new community service center

More than just a thrift store. Financing is complete for the multi million dollar Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley West Campus Community Service Center to be built in Trotwood. In addition to creating more full-time jobs, this new location will offer services for senior citizens and childcare services. More here.
LIVER TRANSPLANT OUTREACH CLINIC COMES TO MIAMI VALLEY

The doctor is in. A hospital in the greater Dayton area is partnering with a Cincinnati-based health center to bring a liver transplant center to Miami Valley. The new clinic will be located on Wilson Health’s main campus in Sidney. This new development will expand healthcare options and services to surrounding communities. Full story here.
